Due to GDC, this week’s show is delayed until Monday, which will be followed by the normal Thursday show next week. So, two action packed shows next week. Lots to report on.

I was wondering how PCG was going to do a podcast covering only part of GDC and leave the rest for the next week. I don’t mind this delay at all. I hope you guys (and gals) cover all the good stuff, because I’m too lazy to read all the articles on GDC xD

You know what happened last time we were supposed to get a 2nd podcast in one week… Jeremy became a dad.
Hopefully that doesn’t happen again.
(I mean that we don’t get a promised 2nd podcast in the same week.)

I don’t get all the hullabaloo about Crysis.
The graphics will be incredible!!!! Whatever, blah blah blah. I’m just hoping it will be a good game. At the moment, Bioshock is looking much more impressive.

We will have to keep Jeremy’s feet to the fire on this one, 2 podcasts in a week sounds a little to good to be true
, but nevertheless, I’m looking forward to it.
At the same time, I know what you’re going through Jeremy, as my Brother had his baby around the same time you did. I’m not only an uncle now, but also the Godfather….. Him and the Wifey haven’t slept a full night since and it’s a lot of work feeding the baby, and that’s just one of the many tasks.

I hope Crysis isn’t a bore like FarCry. Visuals are nice but I want some substance.

farcry and crysis always have a gameplay feel of more of a tech demo type game
- substance would be nice.

why is everyone jumping the gun and saying crysis wont have good game play?
just because a developer absolutely perfects its game’s graphics doesnt mean they neglect story and gameplay. From what I’ve seen from videos of the actual game, and interviews of Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, its shaping up to be an awesome experience.
And whats wrong with the story? a lot of people are complaining about it… I find it fun and a nice change from most recent FPS that have focused on mostly online experiences, leaving the story in the dust.
If anything, Crysis is the game you should really be hoping for, as it will rekindle interest in storylines and cool plot twists (freezing of an island, alien invasion).
And yes, ive read and seen Bioshock, and while its understandable to compare Bioshock and crysis, I think the “consolisation” of Bioshock will work against it, plus its not a TRUE fps, and Crysis’ scale is waaay beyond that of the claustrophobic locales of Bioshock.
Farcry’s gameplay was a little shallow and it didnt feel right at times, ill admit, but the Farcry engine wasnt necessarily something really solid to begin with. Ive worked on the engine and its a mess.
Did you know the engine had scripts running on the side for every kind of sub-rendering? like one engine for specular maps, another for normals, etc.
In the end im really hopeful for crysis and i cant wait for the game to come out, especially when most FPS are gearing to complete online experiences and disregarding single player in general.
…Though i cant wait for UT3 and Frontlines: Fuel of War either

Pre-Ordered S.t.a.l.k.e.r Collectors Ed. Can’t wait to be honest, i’ve been looking for a new FPS for a while. I bought Dark Messiah which was a really good SP game (MP sucked). I was thinking about buying Vegas while waiting. Is it a good game? or a shoddy port?
also, what’s with the field of views on games these days, i feal like i’m wearing binoculars on every game.

I might be slightly more interested in STALKER if there was a chance in hell my machine would handle it. That and well I’m more interested in C&C than pretty much any other game right now but I’ll calm down once I’ve played it a bit and show more interest in other games.
