March 15th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
$50,000!!!!
Dude… You should have just gotten a Kia Rio and put the rest into your computer.
March 16th, 2007 at 1:59 am
I never want to upgrade to vista.
Theres too much DRM and not enough user control for me.
If I want to login as admin or root and change any setting in windows vista and I have the root password I should be allowed to do that.
In vista I cannot manually install DLL files that programs forget to install.
I probably never will buy vista and would sooner move to mac.
Even if that means I have to miss out on the bleeding edge of PC gaming its an acceptable trade off considering the alternative.

You guys got STALKER? Is it an exclusive gold built for the reviewer? or has it been released?
March 16th, 2007 at 9:47 am
My dog loves me, although I haven’t thrown any balls off cliffs lately….
March 16th, 2007 at 10:50 am
Man you guys really must be dumb if you think that a computer game with simplistic environment cause and effect triggers should be used to teach people what will happen to the real planet earth when conditions are ratcheted up on some slider bar.
I”m a bit sick of hearing how Will Wright is lecturing the world again and how uber smart he is. Fine, I got it, he’s smart and makes great computer games. Keep things in perspective though . . . he makes computer games. That’s a great achievement for sure but that doesn’t make him some svengali messiah on all things political and environmental.
Try giving the British Channel 4 documentary ‘The great global warming swindle’ a watch as a primer and a counterpoint to the tosh of All Gores movie.
We arn’t going to get far comparing evidence here cause none of us are scientists but the logic and psychology of the desenting voices against the ‘man made global warming hysteria/religion’ is far more reasonable to me than the purely politically and anti capitalist motivated environuts.
Anytime you get people threatening death to someone who disagrees with them then you know there is something fishy.
There are very very very many extremely eminant scientists who dispute the notion that man is causing global warming and that the seas are going to rise and engulf us. Most of them do not work for any evil corporation either. They just get shut out and even some of them get their names added to documetns in support of the environuts religion.
I absolutly bloody despise pollution and the corporations and societys of poison the earth but even more so i despite junk science and politically and emotionally driven conclusions.
Volcanoes alone cause more greenhouse gasses than all human activity. Rotting vegitation and animals cause even more but the sun evaporating water from the oceans causes by far the most greenhous gas . . yes . . water vapour is a greenhouse gas.
We pollute and poison the earth for sure and should get our filthy act together but junk science not only makes things worse but can ultimately cause hundreds of millions of deaths in un needed enactments in third world countries and the withholding of things such as mosquito sprays or assistance in development because with think developing countries should stay in the stone age so they dont become polluters like us, even if it does mean them never being able to aquire our standard of living and cureing all kinds of disease.
Stick to games guys, you know what you are talking about. When you start to talk about how games designers and game world simulations being instructional tools for kids then you are sorely lacking in concern for proper educational tools for propper and scientific learning for kids. No wonder half of American high school graduates can’t bloody read.
March 16th, 2007 at 11:11 am
About China.
I know you were kind of joking Dan but I’ve travelled in China twice now. Quingdao, Shanghai and Bejing mainly.
China has dirt poor areas for sure but most large urban centers and even towns had a pretty good standard of living. There is a very very minimal police presence anywhere and the average Chinese person has a very free and carefree lifestyle.
Democracy and freedom of the press/internet are important things for sure but despite that idealism the truth is that the vast majority of the Chinese poppulation hardly thinks or cares about that stuff and most are focused on the aquisition of wealth. Capitalism is alive and in fact totally rampant in Chinda today. And many of the places I went to are very lovely places indeed and I wouldnt mind living there.
America and the West has its own version of totalitariansim. Not real but annoying. When i lived in Massachusets it was hard to go anywhere without seeing cops all around. Man i even got speed trapped at 11pm in the darkest countryside streets sometimes, it’s rediculous the way they hit up the drivers for funds.
You can boast about ‘democracy’ as much as you like but you no longer have a functioning constitution, the election was ‘mayb’e just plain stolen and American bloggers are currently sitting in jail cells for asserting their journalistic rights and not giving up sources. On top of that the Patriot acts is basically carte blanche for the authorities to ‘chinafy’ its level of control over the poppulaton.
so mate, China and America arn’t nearly as far apart as you would think. Oh, only they get WOW for $13 a month less than you , ha ha ha.
March 16th, 2007 at 11:48 am
…I didn’t criticize China for being poor, or communist. I just said that they throw people in jail for calling for free elections, which they do, and that I would rather pay $15 per month for WoW (and endure a great deal more slight inconvenience) than live in a country that does that.
And I find it absurd that you think that having a police presence or enforcing speed limits implies totalitarianism. Another interpretation is a society where criminals are not free to rape and pillage as they please for fear that the cops might actually do something about it. Side note: a speed trap is not a cop hiding behind a bush tracking people with radar guns, a speed trap is a small stretch of road where the speed limit is suddenly and inexplicably lowered in order to catch people going what they thought was the limit.
And Poita, speaking of sticking to games (which we were - if Will Wright is talking about his philosophy behind designing his highly anticipated game, how are we not talking about games by discussing it?) how about you try to limit your rants to gaming topics? I’m getting a little tired of these threads being hijacked by political, sociological, and religious diatribes.
March 16th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
If you don’t like the threads going politico or whatever then don’t make silly statements about how game features can educate children on unproven science. If you make statements like that they you are gonna get called on it.
Whether or not Global warming is caused by man to the level of melting the poles is soooooo still up for debate and inconclusive yet so anyone who suggests that cause a death ray in a cartoony game can heat up a planet and cuase the sea to engulf the land then that is a good way for kids to realise that mans activities are gonna destroy the planet is just sooo much a target for correction that you should expect some comment. I’m sorry but that comment brought a whole new depth to the phrase ‘junk science’.
I am actaully a law and order supporter. But surely you know the difference between enforcing the law and using it as a fundraising tool to the point of harassment. Cops in massachusets that could be doing more important work focus intently on searching out the most minor of infractions on anything that can result in a quick fine.
Someone eeking through a stop sign in the middle of nowheresville at 11pm when there is no trafic for miles doesnt expect to have squad cars hiding behind bushes to pounce. Or when you are going like just a few miles over the limit.
My point is that in the USA the police presence is very dense and a lot of it is focused on control and practical extortion of tax paying, law abiding citizens wheras actual, life deteriorating crime doesn’t get that much of an enthusiastic looksee.
China has over 1 Billion people. As a percentage of the poppulation i think you will find that more people in America are jacked off at the interferance of the government authorities in their daily life than are the Chinese.
Most Chinese are heavily influenced by the structured societal mentality of their Confucious heritage and don’t ‘yearn’ for democracy as much as we westerners do. They might like democracy but they by far prefer a stable environment in which to prosper and as they have that at the moment they don’t complain too much about an inability to choose their government.
Those that campaign for fast reforms do so more on principle than at the ‘people’s’ urging. Sure it’s sad that they get screwed over but they just happen to live in the kind of time wehre that kind of thing happens in their countries current development. But you made it sound like the Chinese people all lived in shackles and were cowering and afraid to call for elections. When in fact most Chinese are happy and pround of their country and even prosperous. You’ve probably never been there and seen it for yourself and your comment just came over as arrogant and dismissive in the superior way that Americans like to talk about other nations and their faults.
I just wanted to state that although it’s true that China has some nasty elements, there are some just as nasty ones in the USA so maybe you should think before you sneer at a country on your ‘internatinally listened to’ podcast.
and . . .i challenge you to find even one comment of mine about religion on these comment boards that could be classifed as a diatribe. In fact, i hardly ever, if ever have espoused any actual denominational belief. I have generally just commented on the logic of whether there is a God or not or the lack of logic of someone who insists that there is not.
Before you use words like ‘diatribe’ you better be sure that they actually did write a diatribe or if you just happen to see any comment that you don’t like as a diatribe. Because if it’s the latter then that makes you a bigot. So either you show me what i said on the subject of religion that is a diatribe or i’d like an apology for the derogatory use of that word.
March 16th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Beautiful car norm, gratz.
March 16th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
I didn’t say YOU were making the diatribes, I said you were ranting on unrelated topics, and that the threads were being hijacked by them, which I see as a direct result of people going off topic and focusing on comments made in passing, such as this one, rather than the games we’re talking about. It’s fine to say you disagree with the idea of climate change, but I think I speak for most everyone here when I say I don’t want to have to scroll past a half dozen full screens worth of dense text about greenhouse gas emission levels or the number of police on US streets just because we said we agree that games can be effective teaching tools for children or that we don’t want to live in China because of free speech issues even if they do offer cheap WoW.
If you really want to rant on those things, my suggestion would be to create a blog and put the link as your profile home page - that way you can simply say “Hey, if you want to read what I think about some of the social or religious issues touched on in this podcast, click on my name at the top of this post.” That takes up one, maybe two lines of forum space, without annoying everyone who came here to discuss games.
March 16th, 2007 at 3:00 pm
…or take it to the forum.
March 16th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Another great one! Fantastic stuff. The podcast hasn’t degraded at all since Episode 1.
March 16th, 2007 at 6:52 pm
new video podcast. double the bobbleheading goodness.
March 16th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
Hey good news guys I figured out how to turn on the idiot filter. Can’t even see who or what Dan S is talking about.
Vede it must be cool to have Don Davis be your uncle. I’ve loved film music for a long time, and your uncle’s work on the first Matrix movie always stuck out to me. Too bad the second and third movies turned the entire thing into a big joke.
March 16th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Vagabond how long has it been since you sent in an MP3 question? Come on, they’re always pithy and thought provoking. Don’t hold out on us.
March 16th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
shush Poita. if you are going to scrutinize everything anyone says on the podcast to the Nth degree, this is not the Podcast for you. go watch c-span or something.
March 16th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Beepee, that was actually me who was saying Don Davis is my uncle.
March 16th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
Don Davis + Juno Reactor = Amazing music
March 16th, 2007 at 9:11 pm
And now, to get back on the topic of games, an article about a study that says playing FPSs can improve your eyesight *busts out copies of Doom 3 and Quake 4*
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/studyplayingvideogamesimproveseyesight
March 16th, 2007 at 9:13 pm
Take your shush and stick it Warsnake, aint no one shushes me, or tells me where i should go and what i should talk about.
Dan, you guys went off on a porn diatribe/rant for ten minutes with a tenuous link to games. So we should be afforded the same freedom of speech.
You say it was an offhand comment but if you talk about something then we are free to comment on it. Simple as that.
I respect much of you guys thoughts on games but if you say stupid things then you are gonna hear from it from the listeners, even if that means you are gonna have to scroll past a couple of paragraphs of text.
March 16th, 2007 at 9:31 pm
Oh dear, how desperate beeper sounds. Even though Dan mentions me by name and even though if the comments don’t show up for him it must be the person he’s filtered out he’s so eager to fashion an insult that he’s willing to skip over the logical gaps in his own feeble mind.
Ouch beeper, that really stings.
March 16th, 2007 at 9:34 pm
I was going to submit this as an audio question, but I wanted to ask what controllers you all would recommend for adventure games such as Psychonauts. I got a copy of it for $5 on GoGamer.com, and I wanted to show my sister the rest of the game. Unfortunately, going back to what Dan had mentioned about bad porting, Psychonauts is very hard to play with the mouse and keyboard, especially later in the game where the jumping obstacles get really brutal. I have an Xbox 360 controller, but it didn’t work all too well last time I played. Did they fix that? The controller didn’t work too well for Indigo Prophecy either. Maybe we can ask Kristen?
March 16th, 2007 at 9:48 pm
I have a cheapo gamepad I bought at Wal-Mart for $15 a couple years ago that works really well, it’s a Recoil something or other, looks and works just like a PS2 controller. I played a bit of Prince of Persia Sands of Time and Warrior Within with it when I was helping my brother get through them on his PS2.
March 17th, 2007 at 3:12 am
Poita: Dude you have some major holes in your arguments regarding global warming. And besides if you wish to believe that we are not causing it its very simple to prove were are helping it.
Secondly you say yourself that ‘I know you were kind of joking Dan’. If you knew he was joking why pursue the matter?
Finally, go away. If you cant place nice with other people your not wanted.
bamb0o-stick:
It pays to spend a bit of cash on a joypad. Try for something in the $50 range, or maybe a xbox 360 pad. (if it works i dunno what you need).
March 17th, 2007 at 8:25 am
Barrel.
You can type the words ‘go away’ if you want but they are meaningless. You don’t get to decide anything about noffink so don’t waste ya breath/fingers.
Dude, i could so go into how full of holes the man made extreme gobal warming ‘theory’ is but i actually agree with Dan and don’t wanna get into a chat about that here. My respnose to their comments wasn’t in order to open a dialogue about global warmning per se, it was more to mention how silly it is to take the consequences of a game option as an indicator of a scientific fact and that it should be then used to illustrate that to kids. I just had to go off on it a bit to back up my point. So lets leave the environment here or at least at the end of a reply you might choose.
Just because i say i know Dan was joking doesnt mean the intent wasnt serious. People oftn mask an underhand or derogatory comment in a humorous structure. Those ore more insidius if you ask me.
You might notice that there is a theme to the way i comment here. I’m a reactionary. i Play nice when i’m opening a subject. But when i hear/read someone disparaging someone else i dont like it and i go off on them in defense. Either that or i go off on sujects, not people.
March 17th, 2007 at 8:46 am
Oh jeez, Jeremy. It’s been at least 20 episodes.
You’ve asked for it now. Expect incredibly thought-provoking, philosophical questions.
March 17th, 2007 at 8:47 am
“You might notice that there is a theme to the way i comment here.”
Yes I’ve noticed a common theme of simple-minded pretentiousness.
March 17th, 2007 at 11:48 am
Norm, you should be glad cars are so cheap in the USA. Here, the car would have set you back over $130,000.
March 17th, 2007 at 1:46 pm
You guys need to add some more interviews. I’m not saying that there has to be one every week, but maybe once a month would be nice.
I recommend you interview Jarret Cale from Pure Pwnage, the greatest internet show of all time.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pure_pwnage

March 17th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
Poita, for a while now reading these comments I’ve thought that you’re an angry 15 year old who makes verbose posts and has issues with his mother. These guys (PCG crew) provide us with a great podcast each week and they’re very witty, intelligent, and funny. The fact that they even post here, though they may think twice about it lately, is important to me as a fan of the magazine and the podcast. Please don’t ruin that little bit of magic with your posts that are certainly not level-headed. I think your passion and efforts could be very effectively channeled elsewhere in society, for everyone’s benefit. I like passion, but I don’t like unbridled lashing out against everything you find a remote flaw in when it stacks up to your own beliefs. You’re sounding like every kid in my college classes who isn’t there to get an education, but just wants to throw every word from every book they’ve ever read at the professor so they feel intelligent and powerful. But that’s not intelligence, and it’s certainly not debate. And I know you’re going to make a fantastically long post, in which you think you’re effectively deconstructing everything I’ve said here, and that’s well and good, but I just wanted to let you know that it’s very possible you’re ruining some of this for everyone else. We’re all here to support the magazine that we love and have a good time discussing some things about the podcast, and I’m sure that’s why you’re here too, but realize that you’re coming off as that angsty kid in the back of the movie theater who’s yelling something out every five minutes because you feel like you’ve seen it all before.
March 17th, 2007 at 4:41 pm
poita, really, stfu
this is a forum about games, pc tech, and anything game’s industry related. if you want to talk about politics im sure their general discussion forum will suit you, in here, keep it games is it that hard? Please don’t ruin these comment boards, the last three podcast comment boards have been overtaken by useless political and religious talk that no one really cares about in the end, wasting valuable space to talk about games, no to mention you’re discouraging other people from posting real pertinent issues regarding games when they look at the crap thats eventually posted here.
Now about Spore, i have to partially agree with Greg, id definitely be more interested in the game if things looked a lot more realistic, basically if it had a more Star Wars design feel to it with the alien races and futuristic vehicles. However, its obvious the cartoon aspect of the game is really a limitation of the game’s race and structure construction method, resorting to blob looking objects and spheres to accomplish the look of something.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
Psychonauts plays fine on a Keyboard and Mouse. Never had problems with it. That’s my control of choice for Psychonauts. I find it much easier to use.
March 17th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
i also played psychonauts with keyboard and mouse…
also played through the last two Prince of Persia games with keyboard+mouse.
works well enough when the developers take a little time to consider it… i dont like a mass of controller cords on my oh so small desk so that works.
and please for the love of god DO NOT get the purepwnage morons on the podcast, i hate that show… and i’m ashamed they film in my city on occasion.
what you should do is phone up people like Dan Morris used to, that was good stuff.
poor Poita, he only wants attention. Now everyone hates him.
If anyone would like a decent take on global warming i highly recommend:
“State of Fear” by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park writer)
It has some decent science in it that will give you the alternative to Gore’s documentary.
it is firstly though an entertaining novel. With significant scientific research done to back it up. Crichton always knows what he’s talking about.
March 17th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
Oh good god, do NOT get people started about State of Fear. Abort conversation, abort abort abort!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:11 pm
lol… it’ll take them at least a week to read it… you just have to make sure to never mention anything political, religious, or non-gaming related ever again. better stay away from sports too, they are also decisive.
lol
i never said i supported the views in State of Fear, much of its info is outdated, and i believe that the findings of IPCC (the survey that was just released a month ago) is fairly accurate. but State of Fear has some good messages in it. *cough* politicizing of scientific affairs.
but i’m becoming the next Poita. So i’mma stop now.
March 17th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
Well, at least you know when you quit, Rye.
March 17th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
RyePunk owns
March 18th, 2007 at 1:41 am
plz no… i do not… i am just a humble nobody… its easiest like that.
March 18th, 2007 at 10:09 am
Poita we get it, Dan is a crazy liberal. I mean do his statements about the bible and global warming really offend you so much that you have to go a rant about it every time he does. If you have a problem with what he says just email him
March 18th, 2007 at 11:05 am
Kristen - Do you have a new guild since you came back to Guild Wars? I’m sure my guild would love to have a new member.
March 18th, 2007 at 11:09 am
Bleeper, i thought you said you had me filtered out. ha ha, what a dope. He wan’s the satisfaction of saying he’s tuned someone out but then negates it cause he can’t resist a stab at something the supposedly tuned out person says. That’s classic dude.
Matt, i appreciate what you say. Really though, how hard is it to scroll past a few paragraphs. i do it all the time if i’m not interested in the subject of someones post. So what you are really objecting to is my having an opinion. It’s not like what i write is forcebly inserted into the podcast and there is no way of skipping ahead.
Warsnake. Maybe you arn’t aware of it but STFU contains an abreviation of the word ‘fuck’, as in shut the fuck up. Well, KMFA this is an abreviation of ‘Kiss, My, the above abreviated word and Ass.
Dillpipe, i don’t take kindly to loosers swearing at me, I don’t speak that way to others as a rule but when they resort to sewer talk i give as good as i get.
Apart from being a potty mouth you are also quite foolish. ‘Valuable space indeed’. It’s only valuable when it’s limited and here it’s not so as i said before, ’skip’ over ‘it’ and ‘get’ over ‘yourself’ mate.
Also, don’t be telling me what i can and can’t talk about. They are the ones who politicised the topic by talking about how the game feature could be used to indoctrinate kids on a political issue, namely the replacement for socialism/liberalism that is the ‘man made global warming theory’. if anything it was I who posted in protest of the politicisation of the subject of the game. Get your feeble logic straight before you take me on dude. You just up and supported my point while thinking you were having a dig at me. Sheeesh.
And lastly, i can’t believe i’m going to have a stab at Rye and wholeheartedly aggree with him at the same time. What has the world come to.
Rye, you can’t hate someone who you don’t really know, all you can do is agree or disagree with their points of view. For this reason your comment is silly.
I read State of Fear. I enjoy almost all of his books. I disagree that it was a good read as far as a story goes. But it was a cracking psychological profile of the hijacked environmental movement. His websites has some amazingly lucid and logically presented speeches/essays on global warming and the politicisaton/religicisation of science and what an awfully corrupt influence that is having on poppular thinking.
Rye we dont always see eye to eye but do a torrent search on teh Brit docu called ‘The great global warming swindle’. As usual it’s presented in a great way as only Brit TV documentaries seem to be able to do and it’s got some heavy hitters commenting on it. The thing about the scientists showing that Gore’s big red grapah showing carbon dioxide tracking global temperatures and how in fact the graph covers such a huge time span that it wasn’t evident in Gore’s movie that the rise in carbon dioxide actually lags the warming by 800 years rather than preceding and therfore precipatating. Ha ha it seems the warming was the cause of the rising carbon dioxide levels rather than the other way round and that Gore knew this but fudged the presentation to look the other way round. Classic.
Daffy, it’s not religios, political or any other positions that offend me. I dn’t get offended by that stuff. It’s a total lack of logic that offends me. I believe in logic, logic, logic. If someone states something then they aught to be accountable to the laws of logic at least. the last comment about how a game mechanic being used to prove to kids that global warming is caused by man is about as stupid as it gets and i called him on it based on the total lack of logic not the position.
March 18th, 2007 at 11:34 am
holy crap THANK you ever so MUCH for defining the abrev. STFU for me
however im not sure you yourself understand it and what the majority of the peeps here are telling you, because you keep talking..
March 18th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
War i defined to as a reminder to you of what a scumbag you are. You can usually identify a scumbag by the way he stoops to hurling profanities at people who are otherwise engaged in civil, if heated, debate. I then answered your sleazbag way of addressing people in kind as it seems primatives like you might only get it when people speak on your level.
Dude you seem to think this is a playground where a bunch of people can decide that cause they are huddled in a little group then can decide who is and isn’t acceptable. You are a joke. What the people are telling me? A few people who happen not to like the points i make, gee that just tough. Dude, really, you are gonna have to come up with something a little better than school yard put downs in order to convince me that i shouldn’t exercise my freedom of speech.
man, you come right out of a comic book.
March 18th, 2007 at 1:23 pm
All we’re saying is for you to stop going on these rants on things… We’re not trying to offend you and your beliefs and crap like that… Just stop posting messages like that.
March 18th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
i use profanities, but at least im not ruining the whole board for everyone else like you are
you dont seam to understand that your goddamn ‘civil’..or ‘bitchy’ debates are not WANTED here.
and what good is your precious freedom of speech when no one cares to listen to what you have to say.
GG noob (your similes are cool, but a little too long, much like anything else you say, the whole schoolyard part was cool though)
March 18th, 2007 at 2:25 pm
in the end, my e-feelings dropped to 2%, thats a good thing, because i care less and less about what you have to say and its becoming obvious that not even a dog muzzle will shut you up. Ill leave it at that and let the public here decide on whether they want to put up with your useless crap podcast after podcast.
March 18th, 2007 at 3:18 pm
I said I had my idiot filter turned on. Glad to see your self-assessment is accurate on some level, since you assume I’m talking about you. I am, you’re an idiot.
March 18th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
rofl
anyway i got a question about clive barker’s jericho. theres some screenshots up on most game sites but i cant tell which engine it is, is it ue3? and is it a classic fps, or does it have an rpg element to it?
March 18th, 2007 at 7:04 pm
It looks to me like Jericho will be mainly a FPS. I couldn’t say past that, there doesn’t seem to be much information about it available, and I don’t have a good eye for picking out game engines. I am, however, looking forward to it.
March 18th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
I cant wait for Fable 2. The First one was awesome and the whole Dog Idea seems really cool.
March 18th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
i just watched the three videos and that looks like very impressive AI, and the animations are top notch, the way they blend into each other is seamless. i wish more devs focused on that.
March 18th, 2007 at 8:49 pm
All of you just STFU. You’re acting like 12 year old Halo players.
And what’s wrong about PurePwnage? Although I think Jeremy (from PP) has opinions I disagree with, I can get by it so I want to know what’s bad about them.
March 18th, 2007 at 10:02 pm
omg you said STFU
anyway yeah i dont mind a PP interview, any interview will do for me.
although i dont mind the interview-less shows weve been having.
what i really wish for is Chuck Osborn to be more of a regular on the show, because he pwns.
March 18th, 2007 at 10:03 pm
i dont like purepwnage because its everything about gamer culture that i loathe.
there’s a new Clive barker game coming out?
wicked i loved Undying, highly unknown game that had such an amazing atmosphere.
March 18th, 2007 at 10:59 pm
viva la norm! im sure even the classy guys in marketing are jealous.
March 18th, 2007 at 11:38 pm
Bleeper just a quickie this time for you.
You refered to ‘Not knowing who or what Dan is talking about’ and up to that point he was only talking about what I had been saying. There is no other possible meaning or reference to your words, So again, simple (and i mean ’simple’) logic showed that you suggested that you were unable to see what I had written due to having a filter. When in fact you had no such thing and could see what I was writing. Er, you made it up because You just wanted to create a reality that did not exist in order to hurl a smug insult. That’s fair enough, i’ts not an indicator of your being stupid. What is though is that you soon after replied to something this supposedly filtered person had said.
Dude, not only logic important but consistency is too.
March 19th, 2007 at 12:43 am
Now I have turned on my “appears to be huffing glue” filter.
March 19th, 2007 at 7:38 am
Ah, I seeeeee. The more you say the more you embarass yourself bleeter.
March 19th, 2007 at 8:45 am

March 19th, 2007 at 9:13 am
I’m sorry, I can only hear people who don’t appear to be getting high on paint fumes.
March 19th, 2007 at 10:27 am
I call a truce.
Let the games begin.
March 19th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
IGN PC named X-Com best game ever. Woot. Fact. X-Com is the best.
March 19th, 2007 at 3:26 pm
PP just isnt funny
March 19th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
postal movie looks somewhat remotely interesting. I dunno about you guys, but I’m still not going to see it cuz its gunna suck.
March 19th, 2007 at 8:03 pm
The only thing I don’t like about PP is Jeremy with his WarCraft hate.
March 20th, 2007 at 1:19 am
Does he hat all of WarCraft or just WarCraft III and WoW?
March 20th, 2007 at 6:30 am
PP was ok. But unfortunately gets less funny with each passing episode. The interviewless podcasts are ok for me too. Some of the guests are really kinda boring IMHO. Maybe you guys can steal the rant segment thing that the MaxPC podcast does… great stuff
March 20th, 2007 at 7:12 am
WARREN SPECTOR
:-)
March 20th, 2007 at 9:09 am
FPS Doug was funny as hell in his first couple appearances. Jeremy is funny so long as he just calls people noobs and compares everything to RTS. It’s when they try to have plots or get too film-schooly that things start to suck. I actually get physically uncomfortable from the acting sometimes. It is fascinating as an example of gaming culture, and to me personally as a young Canadian interested in filmmaking.

Our natural envy probably suggests ‘rich Asian American kid getting graduation/sucessful exam present from parents while slumming it at a real job’.
Wheras envy aside suggests ‘rich Asian American kid rightly getting gaduation/sucessful exam present from awesome and loving parents while getting involved in work related to something he loves.
Just tell us it wasn’t a silver one. Cream Lexi reek of luxury.
March 20th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
Isn’t Norman like 30 years old? Graduation?
March 20th, 2007 at 2:40 pm

I guess it was the bobbly head that made me infer an older age, due to some kind of age-related nerve degeneration.
March 20th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
the showdown LAN event age limit makes me sad.
March 20th, 2007 at 4:33 pm
Good lord… now I remember why I’ve stopped frequenting the comments section of this site. The signal-to-noise ratio around here is unbelievable.

Hey all. I’m a long time listener but only just registered today because I NEED to see the little spore creature model! Post a picture somewhere. Or if someone has a link to some other examples that would be cool too.
(Can’t wait for Spore…)
(Really hope I can get my own little creature model someday!!)

March 21st, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Seal clubbing FTW!
March 21st, 2007 at 11:23 pm
i knew no good came from canada. but without them, who would we blame all our problems on?
March 22nd, 2007 at 1:19 am
PETA, the same organization that rescued about thirty dogs from a pound then were found to have euthenased them themself and put them in a dumpster at the back of their building because ‘they weren’t equiped to care for them’.
All that glitters isn’t gold.
March 22nd, 2007 at 12:35 pm
I believe Canada was just in an AP poll for being the “most liked” Country in the World, ironic since us Americans ranked 3rd most disliked Country in the World, next to Iran and Israel.
March 22nd, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Hidee ho. We’re going to record a new podcast today but…
Bambo0-stick: I use a generic Logitech controller–at least, that’s what I have at home, and it’s what I used to play Psychonauts last time through. Since you’re having trouble with the 360 controller and that’s what I have here at the office, I’m going to fire it up today, give it a whirl, and see if we can’t suss out what’s a-happenin’.
Neebs: I’m not in a guild, mainly because I am a dyed-in-the-wool solo player (and, to paraphrase Woody Allen, I am suspect of any group that would have me as a member). That’s why I’ve basically said “step off!” to all MMOs before now. Of course, there’s a first time for everything, and since Guild Wars clearly has a little sumpthin-sumpthin that appeals to me, maybe I’ll get crazy and try joining a guild, too. Let me ruminate on that.
March 22nd, 2007 at 2:18 pm
I know Peta sucks but from time to time they do some good (they’ve convinced several clothes makers to stop using Fur all together)
March 22nd, 2007 at 2:50 pm
The only reason people hate America is well, cause it’s the strongest country at the moment. Canadian hate come from I don’t know where but I think Canada’s cool except for where they speak French, I’m looking at you Montreal.
March 22nd, 2007 at 2:52 pm
Guys, please… there are websites for discussing PETA, Canada, and seals. And then there’s this website. This website is for discussing games.
March 22nd, 2007 at 4:37 pm
Kristen: Sweet. I really appreciate your help. Hope you’ll be on the next podcast.
March 22nd, 2007 at 5:44 pm
DJ is right the MMO MapleStory is SOOO boring lol
March 22nd, 2007 at 5:57 pm
lol, Maple story might be very enticing if you were an 11 year-old korean…
i mean they eat up those casual-difficult MMOs dont they?
March 22nd, 2007 at 6:27 pm
YAY! Only 5 more days until C&C 3 comes out! *twitch* *shake* *twitch*
March 22nd, 2007 at 7:54 pm
“The only reason people hate America is well, cause it’s the strongest country at the moment. Canadian hate come from I don’t know where but I think Canada’s cool except for where they speak French, I’m looking at you Montreal.”
excuse me?
you DO know its 50/50 English French right?.. otherwise i wouldn’t be there.
Montreal is by far the least french speaking city in quebec, plus all good ubisoft games come from here, and that montreal in general is aiming to be and already is the hollywood of the games industry. We got alot of major companies coming over here (you dont need to list the reasons why everyone knows) Eidos, Ubi, EA, A2m, Autodesk, Softimage. All those companies are a couple blocks away from each other downtown and where we are at the Ubisoft Campus.
yeah assassin’s creed and rainbow six aint cool, youre right.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:18 pm
And don’t forget the Prince of Persia games, those were made by Ubi Montreal.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:35 pm
Edmonton has Bioware. greatest RPGs ever.
Vancouver has Relic i believe. greatest Strategy.
Canada, what we lack in quantity we make up for in quality.
March 22nd, 2007 at 8:45 pm
EA has a big office in Vancouver as well
though ubisoft is cool, im thinking of going for Eidos who just set up in montreal, or EA montreal after im done with the Ubi campus
Ubi is definitely an option as well but they have crappy protocol for modelers and pretty much anyone who’s going on for a new project. You have to apply for a new project and make a new portfolio to show between each game developpement.. so unless they LOVE you, you always have to keep proving yourself just to stay in and get on to another game.
its not as bad as it sounds but its definitely a chore.
Also to any fellow 3d modeler out there, don’t -ever- put trees or rocks or something you don’t like doing but that you are good at, in your portfolio, because if they see that you’re good and happy with trees, you’re stuck with that for a loooooong time.
March 23rd, 2007 at 1:21 pm
Re: Psychonauts and the 360 controller
It took me a little time to futz with the mapping, but I’ve got it working. This is good because playing that game makes me so very happy. It’s bad because there are about 100 other things I should be doing for work right now.
March 29th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
Fucking poita, lets ban him hes a fucking fag.
