Yay!

Also yay!

Hey PC Gamer crew, maybe one of you can contact the PCGA and ask them why they’ve decided to ignore E3. Wasn’t the point of the association to promote the PC as a platform? It would have been excellent to see them put on a Press Conference, even if it was pre or post E3..
PC feels extremely marginalized, when there is plenty to talk about and grab some headlines..You’d think Nvidia and AMD/ATI would be all for this.

Yay! Again! W00t! Go PCGP!
Keep making awesomeness podcasts!
June 5th, 2009 at 1:27 am
Like Andy, I also can’t eat without knowing the podcast has been made and released. Thanks for not letting me starve this week.

@Shawn:
PCGA is a joke. Forget about them.
And I wouldn’t say PC Gaming is marginalized, it’s just kind seraching for and of going with the flow right now of everyone else until it finds it’s rightful place (ie. throne) in the gaming market again.

Regarding MMO voices, with the game being the size it is, I bet it will be a massive install. I think it is a good move. Frankly, I don’t care so much either way, but thing is that a lot of WoW fans admit to not reading the text or paying any attention to the narrative. This will make the storyline harder to ignore.
Besides, the selling point of this MMO is supposed to be the story telling. That’s how this is supposedly differentiating itself from other MMOs.
Well, that, and light sabers.
As for the new Monkey Island series, I am kinda “meh”. I didn’t mind the new Sam & Max games at all, but they felt very… limited.
The new Splinter Cell looks really exciting. I just hope Ubisoft does a better job with the porting than they did with Double Agent. Man, that was absolutely atrocious. It was so bad that I ran into at least 5 game stopping bugs that required entire replays.
And I couldn’t freakin’ finish the game. It just ran into a big. I waited six months for a patch. It was a terrible experience, and in a more just world there would have been a class action lawsuit.
As for Assassin’s Creed, I really hope they make a more compelling experience than the first one. It lost its charm very early on and really felt like HALF a game.
SO I GUESS THIS MEANS WE SHOULD BE GETTING AC2 for FREE! HOW DARE THEY? OK just poking fun at the L4D2 situation.
Crysis I loved, but I can’t get myself excited about Crysis 2.
With Warhead taking a more linear route, I am not sure what to expect.
But if Crytek doesn’t push tech. to its limit… I won’t like it, but I will understand. They are a business after all, and pirates suck.
But I really loved the story.
Honestly, Josh, the game is one of the best PC shooters out there. I actually loved it more than Crysis.
Enter The Matrix wasn’t a bad game. The strange thing is that when I picture that game now, in my head, I see LOGAN playing the part of Ghost.

Re Assasins Creed flying machine, I saw a developer vid somewhere that said he gets altitude again my flying over burning things on the floor… so bonfires and burning wagons etc.

Thrilling ARockLegend Trivia: I was invited to be an extra in the Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions filming across the Bay in Fremont, no doubt to contribute my ethnic-y look to the Zion scenes.
Sadly, you had to commit to being on set and on call 24/7 for an entire week, or maybe it was two, and that coincided with the week Future US (then Imagine Media) asked me to start at Maximum PC.
It was a bummer at the time, but for all of us who saw the movies, clearly I had made the right decision.
Of course, none of this explains WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GO BACK IN TIME IN A TIME MACHINE GOING BACK IN TIME INSIDE ANOTHER TIME MACHINE.
June 5th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
I would have have asked my bosses if they could possibly have me a week late. It would have been a cool little thing for Max PC to talk about, how their new writer was a week late because he was being directed by Wachowski brothers.

When you go back in time in another time machine going back in time, you get a delicious cheeseburger. And you cease to exist, so you can’t eat the cheeseburger.

It should be noted that Valve has stated they will continue to support Left 4 Dead.
It should have been noted by the actual professionals but whatever.

@Logan
I did a lot of studying of Primer a few years ago, I dont remember much, but IIRC, taking a running box into another running box would allow you to travel further back in time.
I believe it was possible for Arron to go back to before the creation of the boxes, but he didn’t, he just used Abe’s original fail-safe box.

Did I hear right? Was Dan off getting married? Congrats Dan!! YOu must be really committed to your relationship getting married around E3 and all
Can we mix up the podcast some guys? Get some special guests, maybe get Chuck, Gaz, Vede, Kristin, Dan, etc to come on once in a while. Logan, maybe you can put a shocker collor around Evans leg to make him more…funner
Maybe you can get some other pocasters to come on and talk about gaming. What about Scott Johnson and Randy from The Instance Podcast? Just a thought.

The greatest L4D2 video ever. Even if you don’t agree with the point of view, you should find it hilarious.
June 7th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Hell yeah, Eisenhorn omnibus. I’m going to like having Max on the podcast, but he needs to speak up.

SWToR the first fully voiced mmorpg?
EQ2 was fully voiced.
June 8th, 2009 at 9:33 am
As long as they don’t voice half the game. AOC’s first 20 was sweet with the voice over’s, but when you left that area, it felt strange to not have them. Then they started making certain missions with speech at random, that really messed me up. Either voice the whole thing or none of it.
June 8th, 2009 at 11:08 am
What exactly does fully voiced MMO mean? IIRC from my stupid amount of Guild Wars played, that was fully voiced as well. I guess you could argue its MMOness…
EDIT: I take back the fully voiced Guild Wars comment. A-durrrrrr. Still wondering what fully voiced means. Does it mean at full volume?
June 8th, 2009 at 11:47 am
As far as movies made from games go … there is “silent hill” which did a fairly good job. Its fairly creepy and very disturbing and certainly is true to silent hill in a general way. I have only played “silent hill 2″ so I cannot judge the specifics. I did find the end of the movie and bit unsatisfying and WTF, but I felt that way about the end SH2 as well.
June 8th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Wing Commander is still the best video game movie, even though it’s a horrible movie. Stayed very true to the source material.
Silent Hill a close second.
June 8th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
As a clarification for the confused, I believe “fully voiced” is meaning all the NPCs have voiced scripts — i.e., talk to you the player — regardless of whether the NPC is a great leader or an early questgiver.
June 10th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
A Max Payne movie could never be good for a reason inadvertently revealed in the discussion itself. No game that is so heavily drawing upon the tropes of movies that are already so good could ever be turned into a movie that feels like anything other than a completely derivative, uninspired, red-headed stepchild to the John Woo movies.
June 10th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
@Cyricpls
You make a really valid point. It could also be a homage to the better days of gun ballets.
June 10th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
@cyricpl Wow, I concur. Great point.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Great podcast as always guys!
I would really love to see another Cat Fantastic one of this days
. Maybe on a slow news week?

Thanks guys!
